Trying to hold back

Today is a rest day and I am trying to NOT go running. My legs are hurting again from the run yesterday. My knee is even sore. What do you guys do on days where you WANT to run, but know it needs to be a rest day? I am not so sure I can resist the urge today.

...

Ackk, couldn't resist doing SOMETHING. I took the dog out for a walk. I made the mistake of throwing on my old running shoes, which are/were totally wrong for me. Ouch. It made my legs worse. My two smallest toes went numb on each foot. Never again in those shoes! Now I see why physical therapy made me buy the RIGHT shoes for my feet.

I tried running a bit, and it was just too painful so I stuck to my walk.

Friday, Day 11
5:30pm- 2 mile walk

Calories are going to be about 1800...a bit high but not rediculous. I had too many pistachio nuts. Back on track tomorrow.

You can have too many pistachio nuts? I don't think so :)

You really are doing great. Take it slow; allow those joints and muscle to become acclimated.

I know the feeling you have, when you want to run so bad but can't. I cross train on those days. I'll ride a stationary bike for 1 hour at about 75% of my max heart rate. Figure your max hear rate by subtracting your age from 220. Then go 75% of that. It's equivalent to a 5 mile run.

Gotta watch those old shoes :( I made the mistake of wearing an old pair for my first run after Chicago and I'm still fighting plantar fasciitis.

I'll never do that again.

Everyone deserves a rest day!! Enjoy it!!

i know just what you mean about the shoes. even WALKING in running shoes that aren't right for you just makes everything hurt. :(

but at least they kept you from overdoing it today, right?
