Taking them for a spin

Today, I gave my new shoes their first try. The Adidas are very nice. Very cushioned. It did feel different running in them compared to my old shoes, Nike Responds. It wasn't harder or easier...just different. I really like them.

I can feel myself improving. Today, I did 2.4 miles with a 15-45 second rest/walk time between each .4 miles.

I am getting a blister from the new shoes, which is to be expected. Its on the front of the arch (towards my big toe.) It isn't terrible.

I then gave the dog a brisk 3/4 mile walk with the Asics. I jogged just a minute in them. I don't think they are going to be my running shoes as there isn't nearly as much forefoot cushioning as the Adidas. (I am a forefoot striker.) They are so comfortable, so I will use them on the elliptical and for walking.

My calves were pretty sore afterwards, but didn't bother me much during. I skipped the big hill today after learning that may be making my calves worse. The new shoes seemed to help as they did not hurt as bad as they did on Saturday. Motrin and ice today. Good times.

Day 14 - 3.15 miles
_________
2.4 miles run/walk ....ran at least 2 of those miles
3/4 mile brisk walk with the pooch

Excellent work!! You're making some good, solid progress. Congrats on the new shoes, but not the new blister! Ouch...

One thing that might help is using an antiperspirant on your feet. I use lots and lots of body glide on my thighs when I wear shorts and I've been known to use it on my feet if I'm concerned about a new pair of shoes too.
