Just a small, silly, victory.
I generally try to give myself 500 calories from wake-up until noon, 500 calories from noon until 4 or 5 pm, and then 500 calories from 5pm until bedtime. I do this so I can try to avoid being too hungry at any one point in the day and so I don't gorge on too much in one sitting. On workout days, I also add in 240 calories from a Boost w/ Protein chocolate nutritional drink after my run, because I love them and it gives me a chocolate fix in a good way.
Today, the kids are home sick for the 3rd day in a row, which means I am home as well. My husband also has 24hr duty today, which means I am stuck in the house with two sick kids for the entire day. I know this mix has been disaster for my eating in the past.
For breakfast, I had a Power Bar Harvest (250cal), and a big 16oz glass of orange juice (220cal). I rarely ever drink juice, but it hit the spot this morning. That zapped 470 calories from my morning 500. Yikes! Then, for snack, I had about 10 almonds. There went another 70 calories or so. THEN, I decided to make myself a coffee drink. I figured cutting into my lunch calories was ok, and I would just make it up by eating less at lunch. There went another 140 calories.
If you are with me, that was 680 calories by noon. Of course, about 2pm I am really hungry. I decided eggs and whole wheat bread sounded good. I was sitting there trying to figure out how much of each I could have for 320 calories that I had left before 5pm. I was SO close to making 3 eggs and 2 pieces of toast. I even pulled three eggs out. That would have been 370 calories, cutting into my evening calories.
Then, something inside my head clicked. I knew that if I ate that much for lunch and went over my calories, then I would be hungry at dinner and would probably end up over my calories for the day. Also, I knew that would leave me with no room for a snack. I slowly put the 3rd egg back into the fridge, then only took one piece of bread out from the bag. Instead, I only ate 220 calories, putting me at 900 calories at 2:30pm. That leaves me 100 calories for a snack before the evening hits.
Like I said, a stupid, but small victory. LOL Also, it is a lesson learned....do not blow 360 calories on drinks before noon!!! Usually, I do have the coffee drink but that's it.
I won't be able to exercise today because of the sickies. I will get out for a short, but slow, walk with them and that is about it. That is ok though. I guess an extra rest day will give my calves and blisters another day to heal before I conquer my 2 mile without walking goal tomorrow.
1450 calories for the day :) (Yay!)

Even small victories count! Hope those kiddos get to feeling better soon. I had one running a fever ALL weekend and now has been a crab for 2 whole days straight. I'm about to lose my mind and hubby hasn't had duty!
Every little bit counts! Just be careful about your kids being sick. There is a tendency that you might get sick too if you're not careful enough. I think there is a flu going around that everyone including my mom seems to have been having so please be safe.
I picked up a yoga for beginners video at the library, you might want to consider something like that for your ability level if your stuck at the house?
Get well soon kiddies:)
I'm going to borrow a page from your book and try your calorie allotment.
What always kills me is the time from supper - bedtime. But we'll see...
