I am alive!

Nope, I didn't fall off the face of the earth, I just travelled halfway around it! We just got back from our vacation. We spent a total of 7 days in Hawaii and about 13 days in Colorado. It was so nice seeing our family in Colorado, but it was incredibly hard to leave. I really wish we had more time. I cried my eyes out, along with my parents and my grandmother. It has been 18 months since I have seen my family, and it will be another 18 before I see them again. Being so far away SUCKS.

I ran a total of ONE time in Hawaii and none in Colorado. We were just so busy with our vacation, and that is fine. I didn't do my PT exercises either. OOOOPS! I hope I don't get a load of crap when I follow up with PT next week. LOL.

I do think that the rest has been good for my knee, however. I don't have the day to day achiness anymore. I am still having problems with the one spot in the back of my knee, but even that isn't as bad as it was. I truly think my knee needed the rest!!! I also follow up with my surgeon next week. Hopefully I get some more answers about the pain I still have.

Running. I am excited to start again. I am thinking the 5k on September 15th might be too ambitious, but I am not ruling it out yet. My goal is to still run the 10K in December. I am hoping to start full-force next week. It will be tricky with the kids out of school for the summer, but I will make time.

My latest question is to get a Garmin 205 or not to get a Garmin 205. Thoughts are appreciated! I really want it and know I would use it. I am self conscious. I am worried about getting weird looks from people when they see a fat and out of shape woman wearing a Garmin.

That is it for now. Me :)

Jenn you DID NOT just say! Take it back. You are a woman who is working just as hard at her fitness goals as the rest of us and a Garmin is a GREAT tool for running. I finally got one and I could kick myself for waiting so long.

I swear if anyone gives you funny looks for anything like that, fly them the bird!

You'll love the Garmin! Instant knowledge of your pace and mileage. You can't beat it.

Anyway, welcome back! But I wish you got to spend more time with your family too.

Just stopping by to say hello and thought it was about time before I entered "stranger" status or something way down the list from running buddy.

Best Wishes,
Red.

Jen I know just how you're feeling about the "fat woman" thing - until a couple of months ago I always had that "fat woman running" fear in the back of my head.

Something happened recently, I'm not sure when, but I stopped seeing myself as "the fat woman" and began seeing myself as a healthy woman.

Get yourself the Garmin if it will inspire you to run (if for no other reason than feeling somewhat guilty you laid out the dough for it and now you better use it ;)).

As far as the 5k goes - if your PT thinks you can handle it with run/walks, go for it. If your PT makes that hesitant "I don't want to discourage you" face, then bail.

Glad you had a nice vacation

Glad to see you again!

I definitely vote for you getting a Garmin. You'll love it. :)

Don't worry about what others think. They have no idea...you are the only one who matters in your fitness endeavors.
