Starting Over

UPDATE: I changed my website address: Formally runningfromguam.blogspot.com , now I am jralston.blogspot.com

--------
Starting over running sucks. I don't know why I quit. Ok, I do know why but still. Today I did Week 2, Day 2 of C25k. It's hard to imagine how I could run for almost an hour without stopping back in March, and now running 90 seconds is a challenge. No matter what, I love the feeling of accomplishment running gives me.

I've decided that one of the reasons I eat so much is that I have to be bored! I am at home during the day while the boys are at school and my husband is at work. I choose to eat because it is the most exciting part of my day. LOL! Of course eating is more fun that cleaning the house or doing the laundry.

Some things I am doing to change that:
1) The Couch to 5k - Running curbs my desire to eat. I don't like ruining a workout by eating more calories than I burned! It also gets me out of the house in the morning.
2) I am taking a painting class at the university - I have always wanted to learn to paint. I was SUPER nervous about signing up, as it is an actual college class (but I am doing it for fun, not college credit.) Again, this gets me out of the house 6+ hours per week.
3) We enrolled the boys in martial arts - This gets us out of the house 2-3 nights a week. Andy has been asking to do martial arts for over a year now. We figured it would be good for Kaden because of his possible ADD/ADHD (We should have the results of THAT soon.)
4) My husband and I will be playing in an adult soccer league starting next month. - I have written of my love for soccer before. It should be interesting watching my husband play for the first time ever! LOL!

My first painting class was yesterday. There are only two of us in the class that are just doing it for fun, and the rest are enrolled at the university. It's a little intimidating as I really have NO IDEA how to paint. I am very excited to learn. My grandfather was a great painter, and some of my family on his side follow the "Bob Ross" style of painting.

On a different note, I have a product recommendation for anyone who has a home theatre system! We have our TV, a receiver/surround sound, Blu Ray, and a digital video recorder (DVR.) That is FOUR different remote controls. Check out the Harmony remotes. We have the Harmony 670 . To watch TV, I just push ONE button on the remote, and it turns everything on needed to watch TV. Same thing for a movie.....one button turns on the surround system, tv, and blu ray player. It is SO much easier than having all those different remotes! It is very simple to program, using your computer and a USB cable. I highly recommend it!
