So, my first soccer practice, since tearing my ACL, was on Thursday. I was TERRIFIED!
The field is in AWFUL condition. You'd think the Navy would want to fix it up to prevent injuries. When I tore my ACL two years ago, it was on that field. It is a mix of hard as heck ground and slippery mud.
I didn't do so well playing in the mud. I was too leery of cutting on hurting my knee. My cleats were full of mud so they didn't offer much traction. On the dry spots, I did ok. I am definitely not up to where I want to be, but for a first go I was ok with it.
Afterwards, my knee was sore and a tad swollen. I figure that is to be expected, as I still have that torn meniscus.
We have more practices before the first game, so I am hoping things improve with time. No matter what, I am just happy to be playing again!

It took you TWO YEARS to recover from the ACL!!! Wow, that has to suck extra big-time!
Well, the injury was 2 years ago. I had surgery just over a year ago. The recovery was slow, and I ended up having a 2nd MRI that showed the meniscal tear. :)

You could really use a new post on your blog. And I'm going to suggest a topic:
You've been "tagged" by me as part of a "Six Random Things" game. I just have a feeling that you'd be good at it.
See my blog for more explanation.
Darn it! I was gonna TAG you, but Vince beat me to it!
Hi Jenn,
I have had this CCS for about 12 years, and it's getting much worse and no doctors know what it is here in TN. What kind of doctor did your surgery? Now that I have an idea of what it is, I am thrilled that I might be able to get back to walking! Thanks for the information :)
