A couple weeks ago, I went to the doctor because of an eraser tip sized spot/sore on the tip of my nose that would not heal. It had been there for 4 weeks or so. We decided to give it 2 more weeks, and if it had not disappeared the Dr. would give me a referral to dermatology. The two week mark was yesterday, and the spot still had not healed. I have my referral for dermatology and I see them on the 30th of this month. My family practice doctor thinks it might be actinic keratosis...pre-cancer.
Needless to say, I am pretty freaked out about it. My dad and my grandmother have both had/have skin cancer. 20+ years of soccer in the sun have taken it's toll. Growing up, I NEVER wore sunscreen. It wasn't advertised and pushed like it is today.
Of course, now I am freaked out about every little mark on my skin. I will go crazy for the next 16 days before my appointment. You'd think they would want you in right away for such thing so they can test it. I would love the spot to go away, but I also don't want it to vanish and never know what it is. Hopefully the dermatologist will have the answer.
I feel silly being so scared of this. Google searches do not help with that. I think having kids makes everything so much more scary. How could I do this to them. :o(

Try not to worry too much. I know that's easier said than done, but just wait and see what the dermatologist has to say.
How's the PT going?
Hope everything goes well. Keep us updated!
Jen - keep us posted. I won't say "don't worry" because you're going to do that anyway. I will say that it's good you're following up and on top of such things.
I went through something similar last fall with a mole on my back. Like so many others, I would burn, peel and repeat all summer long. Sunscreen wasn't even an option and Coppertone was pretty much all you had (and that was to darken our tan). Now we know better and our kids will benefit from that knowledge.

Jenn, stay positive. Don't think the worst. My husband's family has gone through the same thing and they're all good now. Just be vigilant about protecting your entire body from the sun, and also your boys! I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.
